Tulsa, OK - The University of Tulsa announced on Thursday that men's head basketball coach Doug Wojcik has signed a two-year contract extension.

Wojcik will now remain with the Golden Hurricane for the next six seasons.

The 43-year-old Wojcik has compiled a 31-28 record at Tulsa since taking over the program in 2005.

'I'm excited to receive a contract extension. It shows great commitment toward my staff and I. There are so many positive things taking place at TU and in the community that make it such an exciting time for my family and I to be in Tulsa,' said Wojcik.

Last season, Wojcik guided Tulsa to a 20-11 record after the team went 11-17 his first year.

'Doug has done a tremendous job in his two seasons by inheriting a team with back-to-back nine-win seasons and leading us to 20 victories in just his second year,' said director of athletics Bubba Cunningham. 'We believe that Doug has injected into our program a passion for returning Golden Hurricane basketball to greatness and where Tulsa fans are used to seeing it. The students he has recruited have a commitment to basketball and education. The leadership qualities that he instills in the players is outstanding.'

On March 14, 2005, Wojcik was named the 28th head basketball coach at Tulsa. Before that, he was an assistant coach for 15 years with Navy, Notre Dame, North Carolina and Michigan State.
