Durham, NC - Duke sophomore center Brian Zoubek will be sidelined at least eight weeks after surgery to repair a fifth metatarsal fracture in his left foot.
Zoubek suffered the injury during a pick-up game on Monday, July 9. The surgery was successfully performed Tuesday at Duke University Medical Center by Dr. James Nunley and Dr. Dean Taylor.
'It is a setback for Brian,' said Duke head coach Mike Krzyzewski. 'He worked diligently this summer to add weight to his frame and he did so successfully. The surgery went very well according to our medical team, so we'll have him back on the court in due time. We have total confidence that Brian will play an important role on our team in 2007-08.'
Zoubek played in 32 games as a freshman, averaging 3.1 points and 2.2 rebounds in 7.3 minutes per game.
