Gonzalvez staying, Morris going at Richmond
Apr 26, 2007, 22:35 GMT
Richmond, VA - The University of Richmond announced that freshman guard David Gonzalvez will remain at the school.
Gonzalvez had previously expressed interest in transferring.
'We are excited that David will be a part of our future here,' said Richmond head coach Chris Mooney. 'He had an excellent freshman season - improving as the year went along. I see a tremendous upside to what David and the team can accomplish at Richmond.'
Gonzalvez averaged 9.6 points per game for the Spiders last season, good enough for second on the team.
Richmond did lose a player on Thursday, as freshman guard Brian Morris requested a release for permission to contact other institutions about transferring. Morris averaged 8.1 points in 30 games last season, including 23 starts.
'While I am disappointed with his decision, we wish Brian well in the future,' said Mooney.
