Clemson's Mays declares for draft
Apr 26, 2007, 2:45 GMT
Clemson, SC - Clemson junior forward James Mays announced his intention on Wednesday to declare for the NBA draft, but will not hire an agent.
Mays averaged 12.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game last season for the Tigers. He also set single-season school records with 95 assists and 69 steals from a frontcourt player.
'I feel this is an opportunity for me to explore my options,' Mays said. 'This will give me a chance to evaluate where I stand as a player. If I don't do as well as I hope to, by not signing with an agent, I will have a great opportunity to remain at Clemson and finish my college career.'
Mays can withdraw his name from draft consideration up until Monday, June 18.
The 2007 NBA Draft will be held on June 28 at Madison Square Garden in New York.
