'We believe Scott Sutton is one of the finest coaches in the country and we want him as part of the ORU family for a long time,' said director of athletics Mike Carter. 'Scott has been an outstanding ambassador for ORU in his eight seasons as head coach and we look forward to his continued leadership of our basketball program.'
Sutton, who is the second-winningest coach in school history, has guided Oral Roberts to a 144-102 record and three straight Mid-Continent Conference regular-season titles.
'I continue to appreciate the commitment president (Dr. Richard) Roberts and Mike Carter have shown to me, my staff and our program,' said Sutton. 'I'm looking forward to building on the success we've enjoyed over the last several seasons.'
With Sutton at the helm, the Golden Eagles have complied 86 victories over the last four seasons and have steadily improved since he took over the program in 1999-00.
'I am very excited that Scott is extending his tenure at ORU,' said Roberts. 'He has been a great spark in our men's basketball program and a valuable member of the ORU family. I stand behind Scott and have confidence he will continue to lead the program to the national forefront.'
