Ruston, LA - Louisiana Tech announced Friday that Kerry Rupp has been named the 16th head coach of its men's basketball team.
Rupp's hiring is still pending the approval of the Board of Supervisors for the University of Louisiana System.
'I am excited about attracting Coach Kerry Rupp to come to our university,' Louisiana Tech President Dr. Dan Reneau said. 'I know he is the individual we need to lead us forward in men's basketball.'
Rupp was the associate head coach under Mike Davis at Indiana from 2004-06 and held the same position at Alabama-Birmingham last season.
From 2000-04, he was the assistant coach and recruiting coordinator for Rick Majerus at Utah, where he helped sign Andrew Bogut - the eventual No. 1 selection by the Milwaukee Bucks in 2005. He helped guide the Utes to three NCAA Tournaments, two Mountain West Championships and one NIT berth from 2000 through 2004.
