Hattiesburg, MS - Southern Mississippi has given men's basketball coach Larry Eustachy a two-year contract extension that will run through the 2010-2011 season.
The extension, which will include a substantial raise, is subject to IHL Board approval during their May meeting.
Eustachy has compiled a 41-49 record as the Southern Miss head coach in three seasons. He has tallied a 301-194 record over 16 seasons as a collegiate head coach.
'I feel extremely loyal to Southern Miss because of the loyalty shown to me three years ago when I was hired,' Eustachy said. 'There was never any doubt that this is where I wanted to be.'
The Golden Eagles finished 20-11 last season, including a 9-7 mark in Conference USA. It was the first winning season for the school since the 2000-01 campaign.
Eustachy was the head coach at Iowa State until resigning during the 2002-03 season after he was photographed holding a beer can and kissing a female student on the cheek in a Columbia, Missouri apartment following a loss to Missouri. At the time, Eustachy admitted to being an alcoholic and apologized for his behavior.
