Terre Haute, IN - Indiana State Thursday named longtime Creighton assistant Kevin McKenna its 24th men's basketball coach.
'I am pleased to announce the hiring of Kevin McKenna as the new head mens basketball coach at Indiana State University,' Indiana State athletics director Ron Prettyman said. 'Coach McKenna has been successful at every step of his career as a college player, professional player, businessman, assistant coach and head coach.'
McKenna served two stints at Creighton from 1994-01 and 2005-07. The Bluejays finished 22-11 and garnered an NCAA Tournament appearance this past season.
McKenna is replacing Royce Waltman, who got dismissed after a decade with the Sycamores. Indiana State finished 13-18 last season, and 5-13 in the MVC.
