Athens, GA - The University of Georgia gave men's basketball coach Dennis Felton a two-year contract extension through 2011 on Wednesday.
Felton's clubs have steadily improved during his three seasons in Athens, growing from an 8-20 Southeastern Conference doormat to a respectable 15-15 and finally a 19-14 record in 2006-07 that included eight conference victories.
'Our program has shown steady improvement over the last three years under Dennis and I'm pleased that we have extended his contract,' said director of athletics Damon Evans. 'We look forward to continuing the rebuilding process of our program under his leadership.'
Along with the extension, Felton was given a $50,000 raise to total annual compensation of $760,000.
'I'm appreciative of the confidence shown by the athletic administration and athletic board in the progress we've made and the progress we'll continue to make,' said Felton. 'I'm excited about the future and continuing to build the program into what we all want it to be.'
