Oklahoma City, OK - Mario Boggan finished with 11 points and netted the game-winning basket down the stretch, as Oklahoma State stunned seventh-ranked Texas A&M, 57-56, in the quarterfinal round of the Big 12 Tournament at Ford Center.
David Monds added 11 points and five rebounds for the Cowboys (22-11), who will hook up with Texas in the semifinals on Saturday.
Terrel Harris had nine points and JamesOn Curry also netted nine points to go along with five assists and four boards before fouling out for Oklahoma State, which shot 40 percent from the field for the game.
Joseph Jones poured in a game-high 18 points and had seven rebounds for the Aggies (25-6), who turned the basketball over 13 times and were outscored 33-28 in the second half after leading most of the game.
Josh Carter had 14 points and Acie Law struggled with just 10 in the loss.
With Texas A&M leading the majority of the contest, Oklahoma State pulled to within one point at 53-52 with about 4 1/2 minutes remaining after Boggan drained a three-pointer from the top of the key.
After a defensive stop at the other end, the Cowboys moved in front after Curry hit a wide-open shot from beyond the arc to give OSU a 55-53 lead with about 3 1/2 minutes to go.
With 2 1/2 minutes remaining, the Aggies inched back in front at 56-55 after Carter sunk a three-pointer off the left wing.
After a timeout, Boggan missed a jump shot in the paint, but Texas A&M gave the ball right back after Dominique Kirk was stripped of the ball by Boggan. Curry then drove hard to the hoop at the other end but fouled out of the game after being whistled for charging, handing the ball back to the Aggies with about a minute to play.
With about 30 seconds left, Antanas Kavaliauskas' jump shot fell short and Monds pulled down the rebound for OSU.
After a timeout, Boggan put the Cowboys in front at 57-56 with a mini-jump hook shot down low with 11.5 seconds on the clock.
The Aggies then chose not to regroup with a timeout and quickly raced down the court. Carter launched a three-pointer off the fast break and the ball rimmed out. Kavaliauskas though grabbed the rebound and attempted a put-back shot that did not go down. Once again the Aggies grabbed the rebound as Carter got a shot off as time expired but the ball rattled out as the Cowboys held on for the victory.
Led by Jones' 11 points on 3-of-6 shooting from the field, the Aggies led 28-24 at the break.
Harris paced the Cowboys with seven points in the opening half.
Game Notes
Oklahoma State was 11-of-12 from the charity stripe while Texas A&M was 12- of-20 from the free throw line...The Cowboys' bench outscored the Aggies' reserves, 16-1...OSU held a 31-30 advantage in rebounds.
