Chapel Hill, NC - University of North Carolina star Tyler Hansbrough reportedly has a small, non-displaced fracture of his nose and will likely need a root canal to fix a tooth, following an injury suffered in the team's 86-72 win over Duke on Sunday.
Hansbrough's condition was reported by The Charlotte Observer after speaking with Roy Williams -- the Tar Heels coach -- on Monday.
Hansbrough was hurt when Duke freshman Gerald Henderson caught him with an elbow on a hard foul with just 14.5 seconds left in the game.
Williams does expect Hansbrough to play in the Tar Heels' ACC tournament opener on Friday, however.
Hansbrough leads the Tar Heels in both scoring and rebounding. The 6- foot-9 sophomore is averaging 18.8 points and eight rebounds per game.
