Louisville, KY - Edgar Sosa poured in 18 points as No. 16 Louisville toppled Seton Hall, 86-71, to clinch second-place in the Big East.
Terrence Williams scored 15 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, while David Padgett also chipped in 15 points with seven boards for the Cardinals (22-8, 12-4 Big East), who won their final six games of the regular season. Derrick Caracter added 13 points and Jerry Smith donated 10.
Louisville finished 48 percent shooting from the field.
Brian Laing netted a career-high 29 points and pulled down seven rebounds for the Pirates (13-16, 4-12), who dropped seven of their final eight games. Eugene Harvey had 16 points and dished out six assists and Paul Gause deposited 14 points.
The game stayed close for the first 11 1/2 minutes. Then, trailing 32-30, Louisville ripped of 14 straight points for a 12-point lead with 3:51 remaining.
Seton Hall, however, responded with a 10-0 run -- led by Laing's eight points -- to close within 44-42 at the break.
Laing opened the second half with a layup to tie the contest, but the Cardinals held the lead the rest of the way while the Pirates could only get as close as one early on.
Sosa's trey with 6:47 left opened up an 11-point advantage for Louisville, which ended the game with a 7-0 run.

Louisville owns a 7-3 edge over Seton Hall in the all-time series...Seton Hall shot 40 percent from the floor and 48 percent from three-point range...The Cardinals outrebounded the Pirates, 46-34.
