Chicago, IL - Sammy Mejia scored 18 points and Wilson Chandler added 14 points and grabbed 11 rebounds for DePaul, which upset No. 12 Marquette, 72-67, at AllState Arena.
Marcus Heard pitched in with 14 points for the Blue Demons (15-11, 6-6), who have won two straight.
Jerel McNeal scored 16 points and Dan Fitzgerald deposited 16 for Marquette (21-6, 8-4), which has lost two straight after winning eight in a row. Dominic James added 17 but shot just 6-of-17 in the defeat.
Wesley Matthews drilled a 3-pointer with 36 seconds left to pull Marquette within two, 67-65.
After a timeout, Chandler was fouled with 35.7 to play. He made 1-of-2 free throws putting the Blue Demons up three.
On the next possession McNeal missed a three but Matthews got the rebound, was fouled and hit two free throws, making it a one-point game in favor of DePaul with 26.5 ticks left on the clock.
Burns' two free throws put DePaul up 70-67 and James air-balled a 3-point attempt with 14 seconds remaining. Mejia made one of two free throws, James missed another trey and then Karron Clarke dropped in one more free throw for DePaul with two seconds to go.
Marquette started the game with a 5-0 run, but DePaul responded with a 19-9 surge, capped by a Heard Trey.
The Blue Demons led 40-33 after the first half, shooting 53 percent and holding Marquette to 39 percent.
