Under full court pressure on Alabama's next possession, Johnson tipped one in to make it 71-70, and after an LSU miss and rebound by the Tide, the Tigers did not foul until 2.9 was left on the clock.
On the half-court inbound play, a long pass found Gee under the basket, but his miss was followed up by Davidson's emphatic slam at the buzzer for the final bucket in a three-point win.
Gee's easy lay-in with 6:51 played in the first half staked the Tide to a 15-8 lead, but LSU flipped the script and embarked on a 16-5 run capped by Mason's hit from underneath the basket with eight minutes remaining for a 24-20 lead.
Davis hit a spectacular off-balance bank shot from the right side with 2:58 left to give the Tigers a 32-28 advantage, and Temple laid one in off the glass at the buzzer for a 38-34 halftime lead.
Ben Voogd's jumper with 9:33 to play in the contest gave LSU a 62-54 lead, their biggest of the half, before Alabama crept within two, 62-60, as Gee hit another from the floor with 6:46 to play.
