Columbus, OH - Daequan Cook came off the bench and scored 20
points on 8-of-13 shooting, as the fourth-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes routed
the underdog San Francisco Dons, 82-60, in a non-conference matchup.
Ron Lewis scored 15 points for the Buckeyes (5-0), who opened the season by
hosting the BCA Classic and winning all three of their games at that event by
double figures. Mike Conley Jr. netted 12 points and dished nine
assists, as the Buckeyes still await the return of Greg Oden, who is
recovering from wrist surgery. Armondo Surratt scored 15 points for San
Francisco (2-2), which opened its season with a pair of games against weak
opponents and both contests resulted in double-digit victories. The Dons
attempted to make it three in a row on Friday, but fell to Fresno State by an
86-66 final.

Maui, HI - Arron Afflalo scored a game-high 25 points to lead
the fifth-ranked UCLA Bruins past the Chaminade Silverswords, 88-63, in the
opening round of the Maui Invitational. Afflalo was also 5-of-7 from beyond
the arc for the Bruins (2-0), who will play the 20th-ranked Kentucky
Wildcats in the semifinals of the tournament on Tuesday. Kentucky slipped
past DePaul, 87-81, in its opening round game on Monday. Josh Shipp added
16 points for UCLA and Darren Collison had 15 points in the victory. Zack
Whiting poured in 14 points and had 10 assists for the Silverswords
(0-1), who the Pac West Conference title last season in Division II and were
playing in their first game of the season. Darrell Birton added 12 points in
the loss after hitting four shots from beyond the arc.

St. Thomas, VI - Alonzo Gee and Mykal Riley both scored 13
points, as the 10th-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide downed the Musketeers of
Xavier, 63-56, to claim the title of the 6th Annual Paradise Jam Classic at
the Virgin Islands Sports and Fitness Center. Richard Hendrix scored 10
points for Alabama (4-0), which is a perfect 4-0 on this young season and
opened the tournament with a solid 71-62 victory over Middle Tennessee. The
Tide advanced to the title game with another impressive win, defeating Iowa,
72-60, Sunday night. Josh Duncan scored 14 points and grabbed nine
rebounds for the Musketeers (3-1), who were coming off a hard-fought 71-66
victory over Villanova in a second-round matchup from Sunday night. Xavier
opened the tournament against a gritty VCU squad, but the Musketeers were able
to survive with a 70-67 victory over the Rams. Johnny Wolf added 13 points and
Justin Doellman grabbed 10 boards in defeat.

Kansas City, MO - DeMarcus Nelson poured in 23 points as the
ninth-ranked Duke Blue Devils grounded Air Force, 71-56, in the semifinals of
the CBE Classic. Nelson went 7-of-10 from the floor, including 3-of-5
from beyond the arc, while Lance Thomas contributed 15 points for the Blue
Devils (4-0), who will face Marquette in the tournament championship on
Tuesday. Jacob Burtschi and Nick Welch each scored 12 points for the Falcons
(4-1), who were outrebounded 30-10 in their first loss of the season.

Maui, HI - Robert Dozier netted 13 points on 6-of-8 shooting
to guide No. 12 Memphis past Oklahoma, 77-65, in the opening round of the Maui
Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center. Willie Kemp poured in 12 points
while Antonio Anderson and Andre Allen each scored 10 apiece for Memphis
(2-0), which shot 49 percent from the field. The Tigers will play Georgia
Tech in the semifinals on Tuesday after the Yellow Jackets downed Purdue,
79-61, in first-round action. Michael Neal paced all scorers with 18
points and also collected seven rebounds for the Sooners (2-1), who were
held to 35.6 percent shooting. Taylor Griffin posted a double-double with 16
points and 10 boards in defeat.

round of the CBE Classic. Jerel McNeal scored 19 points, dished out eight
assists and grabbed six rebounds for the Golden Eagles (5-0), who square off
against ninth-ranked Duke for the tournament championship. Dominic James has
16 points, while David Cubillan added 11 for Marquette. Benny Valentine scored
a team-high 17 points for the Red Raiders (4-1), while Jarrius Jackson posted
14 points and six boards .

rebounds to lead 20th-ranked Kentucky past DePaul, 87-81, in the opening
round of the Maui Invitational. Ramel Bradley had 16 points and Joe Crawford
contributed 13 in the victory for the Wildcats (3-0), who will play UCLA
in the semifinals on Tuesday. Sammy Mejia and Wilson Chandler led DePaul
with 17 points each as the Blue Demons (1-3) have dropped three of their
first four games this season.

out five assists to help No. 19 Georgia Tech down Purdue, 79-61, in the
opening round of the Maui Invitational at the Lahaina Civic Center.
Lewis Clinch donated 14 points in the win while Zach Peacock and Thaddeus
Young each scored 13 for Georgia Tech (4-0), which shot 49 percent from the
floor. The Yellow Jackets will now take on No. 12 Memphis in the
semifinals on Tuesday. The Tigers defeated Oklahoma 77-65 earlier in the day.
Carl Landry had a team-high 14 points and also brought down nine rebounds for
the Boilermakers (2-1), who trailed by just four at the half. Chris Kramer
added nine points and three assists in defeat.

College Park, MD - Ekene Ibekwe had 18 points, six boards and
three blocks to lead 25th-ranked Maryland over Winthrop, 71-60, at the Comcast
Center. Bambale Osby added 14 points and seven boards for the Terps (6-0),
who have yet to lose this season. D.J. Strawberry tallied 11 points,
grabbed eight rebounds and dished out five assists as Maryland was playing
for the first time since defeating Michigan State in the final of the Coaches
versus Cancer Classic at Madison Square Garden. Craig Bradshaw had 15
points and six boards for Winthrop (3-2), which has dropped two of three.
Torrell Martin added 14 points and seven rebounds for the Eagles, who were
never really in this game despite the final score.
