College Station, TX - Stephen McGee threw for 237 yards and a touchdown and Mike Goodson ran for 113 yards and a touchdown as No. 25 Texas A&M pounded Louisiana-Monroe, 54-14.
Jorvorskie Lane had two touchdown runs, tight end Martellus Bennett had six receptions for 98 yards and backup quarterback Jerrod Johnson added two late touchdown runs for the Aggies (3-0)
'This was a very solid game,' Texas A&M coach Dennis Franchione said. 'I thought we played well in all phases.'
Calvin Dawson carried 20 times for 126 yards and a touchdown and quarterback Kinsmon Lancaster went 13-for-23 for 116 yards with two interceptions for the Warhawks (0-3).
The Aggies took advantage of the Warhawks' overmatched defense, scoring on nine of their 10 possessions, including all five in the first half.
Lane capped the Aggies' first drive with a five-yard touchdown run, but Dawson's one-yard touchdown run tied the game 7-7 midway through the first quarter.
On its next possession, Texas A&M used a 45-yard field-goal by Matt Szymanski late in the first quarter to take a 10-7 lead.
In the second, the Aggies punctuated their first drive less than four minutes in on Lane's one-yard touchdown run and their second, 6 1/2 minutes later, with a Goodson seven-yard gallop.
Szymanski added a field goal with five seconds left in the half to take a 27-7 lead.
It got not better for Louisiana-Monroe in the second half. McGee connected with Kerry Franks for a 20-yard touchdown less than four minutes in.
Johnson added a seven-yard touchdown run with 30 seconds left in the third.
Frank Goodin scored the Warhawks' only score in the second half with a one- yard touchdown run a little over halfway through the fourth quarter.
The Aggies, though, scored two more times. Johnson had a 26-yard touchdown less than two minutes later and Keondra Smith capped the scoring with a five- yard touchdown run with just under three minutes to go.
McGee finished 19-of-33 passing.
Game Notes
Texas A&M totaled 547 yards...Dawson has now posted eight straight 100-yard rushing games...This was just the second all-time meeting between ULM and A&M, with the Aggies posting a 31-17 victory in the first encounter in 1985.
