Eugene, OR - Jonathan Stewart ran for 165 yards and two touchdowns, as 19th-ranked Oregon crushed Fresno State, 52-21, giving Mike Bellotti his 100th win as head coach of the Ducks.
Dennis Dixon completed 14-of-20 passes for 139 yards and two touchdowns for the Ducks (3-0), who beat Fresno State for a sixth straight time. Oregon has amassed a 27-1 record in non-conference games in Autzen Stadium during Bellotti's head coaching tenure.
The Ducks scored the game's first two touchdowns and never looked back after racing to a 42-14 halftime lead.
'Being confident is good, but you have to be humble and respect every team you play,' Stewart said. 'I think that's where we are.'
Tom Brandstater connected on 18-of-32 passes for 219 yards with a TD and was picked off once for the Bulldogs (1-2), who were coming off a tough 47-45 triple-overtime loss at Texas A&M a week ago.
'Last week's game had no effect,' Fresno State coach Pat Hill said. 'The hardest thing is all the travel. That's the tough thing about scheduling is sometimes you have to travel a lot and then come play a team that executes the way that Oregon did today.'
Stewart scored on a nine-yard run with 8:53 left in the opening quarter and it became 14-0 when Walter Thurmond III rumbled 25 yards to the end zone on a fumble from Ryan Mathews.
It became 14-6 with 2:56 left in the first when Lonyae Miller scored on a one- yard run, but the extra point try was blocked.
Oregon had an answer, though, as Dixon hooked up with Jeremiah Johnson on a 35-yard touchdown pass for a 21-6.
Dixon's two-yard scoring pass to Ed Dickson made it 28-6 less than a minute into the second, and Stewart bolted 88 yards to the end zone with 10:58 remaining in the half.
Dixon scored from a yard out on a run for a 42-6 margin before Brandstater hit Vince Pascoe with a one-yard pass for a TD just before halftime.
Andre Crenshaw ran two yards for a score and Daniel Padilla's 22-yard field goal in the fourth moved the lead to 52-14.
Mathews scored on a one-yard run with 1:56 left.
