USC cornerback Joseph taken off field on stretcher

Lincoln, NE - University of Southern California cornerback Vincent Joseph was taken off the field on a stretcher during Saturday's game against Nebraska.The Cornhuskers kicked a field goal to go ahead 10-7 with 9:04 left in the second quarter, and Joseph then fumbled the ensuing kickoff when he got hurt after being hit in the neck area. He stayed on his back on the field before medical personnel wheeled out a stretcher. Joseph suffered a bruised larynx and was taken to a local hospital.Linebacker Malcolm Smith picked up Joseph's fumble for USC and ran 40 yards into Nebraska territory. The top-ranked Trojans ended up scoring on a short run by Stanley Havili to go ahead on the No. 14 Cornhuskers and won, 49-31.© 2007 The Sports Network
