Los Angeles, CA - Southern California defensive back Josh Pinkard will miss the remainder of the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, according to a report Wednesday in the Los Angeles Times.
Pinkard, a fourth-year junior, missed almost all of the 2006 season after tearing his right ACL in last year's season opener against Arkansas.
The 6-foot-1, 215-pound Pinkard was at the top of the depth chart at cornerback after starting last season's opener at safety.
Pinkard, though, injured his left knee in practice prior to the season opener against Idaho and sat out the game, hoping to return for Saturday's showdown at No. 14 Nebraska.
Pinkard will be a fifth-year senior in 2008 and is eligible to apply for a sixth year.
Sophomore Shareece Wright will likely be expected to fill an even larger role in the cornerback rotation in Pinkard's absence.
