NC State's Baker done for season
Sep 3, 2007, 13:49 GMT
Raleigh, NC - North Carolina State junior tailback Toney Baker suffered a season-ending knee injury during the fourth quarter of the team's season opening 25-23 loss against Central Florida.
Dr. Michael Fajgenbaum found cartilage damage during an arthroscopic procedure Sunday morning. Baker, who was the Wolfpack's leading rusher last season, will undergo reconstructive surgery at a later date.
The school did not reveal which knee was injured.
Baker has rushed for 1,272 yards in 24 career games (12 starts) at North Carolina State and could be eligible for a medical redshirt.
'This is a tough situation for Toney and for our football team,' said head coach Tom O'Brien. 'We wish him the best and will support him through his rehabilitation period.'
