Mount Pleasant, MI - Jeff Quinn has been named the interim head football coach at Central Michigan and will lead the Chippewas into their Motor City Bowl matchup against Middle Tennessee State on December 26 in Detroit.
Quinn takes over for Brian Kelly, who had spent the past three seasons as the head coach, but left to take the same post at Cincinnati on Sunday.
'I am excited about the chance to lead this team into the Motor City Bowl,' Quinn said. 'This is an outstanding opportunity for our football program and I am looking forward to the responsibility of preparing this team for the bowl game.'
Central Michigan, fresh off its first Mid-American Conference title since 1994, ended the regular season with a 9-4 record, including 7-1 in the MAC.
Quinn had served as the associate head coach and offensive line coach at CMU for each of the past three seasons. He was also the offensive coordinator in 2006.
