Sooners' Peterson discusses injury
Oct 19, 2006, 5:35 GMT
Norman, OK - Less than a week after suffering a broken collarbone, University of Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson met with the media on Wednesday to discuss the injury.
The junior running back racked up 228 all-purpose yards and scored twice but was injured on his 53-yard touchdown run with 6:38 left in the game against Iowa State.
Peterson hopes the recovery time will be four to six weeks and looks forward to having the injury heal properly so he can possibly play in a bowl game.
'I am praying each night for a speedy recovery,' Peterson said. 'I would enjoy playing with the guys and being back out on the field. I am looking forward to playing.'
OU head athletics trainer Scott Anderson also talked about Peterson's injury and recovery time.
'(The recovery) course is expected to take six weeks,' Anderson said. 'We will, of course, have assessments during this period of time as we go through and manage and track his recovery. Adrian has always had a great capacity for recovery from the injuries that he has had.'
Peterson has 935 yards rushing this season with 10 touchdowns and has also caught eight passes for 127 yards and a score.
