Sheboygan, Wisconsin - Dustin Johnson who on Sunday thought he had a four-foot putt to win the 92nd PGA Championship in Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin was penalized two shots and failed to qualify for the play-off.
Johnson, who holed the ball on his second putt, thought he had scored a 71 to qualify for the play-off, but was told later that he had been penalized two shots for grounding his club in a bunker, which he did not recognize as such.
It saw him fall back to tied third place on 279 for the tournament.
The three-hole play-off later Sunday will now be contested between American Bubba Watson and Germany's Martin Kaymer.
Both players ended on 11-under for the tournament.
