Woods hoping for captain's pick for Ryder Cup (Extra)
Aug 15, 2010, 22:08 GMT
Sheboygan, Wisconsin - Tiger Woods is in danger of missing out on the Ryder Cup after failing to climb up the leader-board at the PGA Championship on Sunday.
Woods, who was tenth in the American Ryder Cup standings at the start of the tournament, finished his fourth round on the Whistling Straits course on a one-over 73 to finish two under, but well behind the leaders.
With only the top eight from the standings being guaranteed an automatic place for the Ryder Cup, which is played every two years between the US and Europe, Woods will probably need to be one of captain Corey Pavin's pick, if he wants to participate in his sixth Ryder Cup.
After coming off the course on Sunday, Woods said he had not given up hope of playing in the Ryder Cup, which will be held October 1-3 at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, Wales.
'I would like to make the team. Obviously I don't think I made it on points and I am going to have to rely on Cory for a pick, if he wants me on the team.'
Woods missed only the 2008 Ryder Cup at the Valhalla Golf Club in Louisville, Kentucky with an injury after first playing in the competition in 1995 in the Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York.
