Harrington's US PGA hopes suffer watery grave in final round

Hazeltine, Minnesota - Padraig Harrington's hopes of making a successful defence of his US PGA Championship crown came to an end with a horrendous quintuple-bogey eight midway through his final round on Sunday. The Irishman, who began the final round just two shots behind overnight leader Tiger Woods, found the water with his tee shot at the par-three eighth and made a total hash of things from there. His resultant chip from the drop zone found the rough and another one was poor. From there he took four more shots to get down and dropped back to 1-under-par. Woods remained on top of the leaderboard but two early bogeys meant he shared the lead with Y E Yang of Korea on 6-under-par at the turn. The pair were three shots clear of five players, including Lee Westwood, Rory McIlroy and US Open champion Lucas Glover.
