Sattayabanphot wins last Futures event

Albany, NY - Onnarin Sattayabanphot posted a one-over 72 in the final round Sunday, but it was enough to win the ILOVENY Championship, which was the final Duramed Futures event of the season.Sattayabanphot completed the event at three-under-par 210, one stroke clear of Allison Fouch, who closed with a two-under 69 at Capital Hills at Albany.Kim Welch, who shared the lead after two rounds, and Taylor Leon tied for third at one-under-par 212. Emily Bastel, Esther Choe and Mollie Fankhauser each closed with rounds of two-under 69 to share fifth at even-par 213.Despite the win, Sattayabanphot was unable to move into the top-five on the money list. She finished 11th with the win. The top-five players on the money list earned their LPGA Tour cards for next year.The five that entered the event ranked in the top-five all remained there, but some changed places. Bastel shared fifth this week and that clinched her the top spot on the money list.Fouch, with her second place finish, moved from fifth to second on the final money list. Fankhauser finished alongside Bastel and inched up one notch to third.Violeta Retamoza only managed to share 24th place this week and in turn she slid from second to fourth. Seo-Jae Lee ended in a tie for 39th in Albany and dropped from the third to fifth on the final money list.Despite two wins this season, Liz Janangelo and Taylor Leon finished sixth and ninth respectively on the money list, therefore missing out on securing their LPGA Tour card for next season.© 2007 The Sports Network
