Gillespie, Heffernan share Jane Rogers lead

Mississauga, ON - Derek Gillespie shot a four-under 66 and Wes Heffernan had a three-under 67 Saturday to share the lead at the Canadian Tour's Jane Rogers Championship.The Canadian friends were at 10-under 200 through three rounds, one shot ahead of Byron Smith and Lee Curry. They will play in the final pairing Sunday.'Obviously, I am going to have to play well tomorrow to have a chance,' said Heffernan. 'It should be a lot of fun playing with my buddy.'Smith (66) and Curry (67) were both at nine-under 201, with Mike Grob (66) another shot further back at 202.Overall, there were 10 players within five shots of the leaders.Gillespie held the lead by himself, but was undone by back-to-back birdies on his last two holes. Heffernan joined him in the lead by parring his last two.'I thought it would be smooth sailing coming in,' said Gillespie. 'I was hitting it well, but hit that tee shot (on 18) a foot into the rough and that was it.'Gillespie will be seeking his third Canadian Tour win Sunday, and first since 2002.Already a two-time winner this season, Heffernan will be playing for his fourth career win.© 2007 The Sports Network
