Heffernan leads Jane Rogers Championship

Mississauga, ON - Wes Heffernan shot a six-under 64 on Friday to take a one-shot lead at the Canadian Tour's Jane Rogers Championship.Heffernan was at seven-under 133 overall, leading a group of Canadians who held the top five positions after the second round.Derek Gillespie fired a seven-under 63 and shared second place with countrymen Andrew Parr (68), Lee Curry (68) and John Shin (68) at six-under 134.There were five more Canadians in the top 25.Heffernan, a two-time winner this season, is among five Canadians who have victories on tour this season -- the first time that's happened in 11 years.'We're having a really solid year, so I am not surprised at all,' Heffernan said. 'Hopefully I can take this into the weekend.'The leader posted seven birdies and just one bogey for his 64. He was five- under after 10 holes in his second round, then made his last birdie at the par-four 14th.'It was just one of those days where I didn't make too many mistakes,' Heffernan said. 'Maybe I left a couple out there, but I stole a few too.'Three Americans -- Byron Smith, Dirk Ayers and Josh Habig -- shared sixth place with Australian Bobby Smith at five-under 135, and there were 21 players overall within five shots of the lead.Overnight co-leaders Bradley Heaven and George Bradford both struggled to over-par rounds on Friday, but safely made the cut.
