Bruno Senna in Ayrton's footsteps with Williams contract
Jan 17, 2012, 12:39 GMT
London - Bruno Senna will race for Williams in the 2012 Formula One season, replacing fellow-Brazilian Rubens Barrichello at the British team his late uncle Ayrton Senna also raced for.
The Williams team made in announcement in a statement on Tuesday and also said that Pastor Maldonado of Venezuela stays on as their second driver.
'It will be very interesting to drive for a team that my uncle has driven for, particularly as quite a few of the people here actually worked with Ayrton. Hopefully we can bring back some memories and create some great new ones too,' said Bruno Senna.
'I feel very privileged that Williams has selected me as one of their race drivers. The team has a great heritage and I hope I can help write a good chapter in their history.'
Bruno Senna has so far had a season and a half in F1 at HRT and Renault. His uncle Ayrton won three world titles and died in a Williams in a crash at the San Marino Grand Prix in Imola 1994.
