Ferrari hire former Bridgestone tyre chief
Jan 11, 2012, 14:46 GMT
Berlin - Ferrari have appointed former Bridgestone technical director Hirohide Hamashima to help the Formula One team develop with the current Pirelli tyres.
Hamashima will head new project 'focusing on an in-depth assessment of an area crucial to performance, which is the interaction between the car and its tyres and he will also be our technical link to Pirelli,' team principal Stefano Domenical said.
Hamashima worked closely with Ferrari when Michael Schumacher was driving in a dominant period for the team in Formula One, then using Bridgestone tyres.
Ferrari has also appointed Steve Clark, who was technical adviser at Mercedes, as track engineer.
Ferrari will meanwhile present its car for the 2012 season at the Fiorano track on February 3, Domenicali said at its 'Wrooom' event in the Italian Dolomites resort of Madonna Di Campiglio, which kicks off the team's race season.
Bridgestone pulled out of Formula One at the end of 2010, to be succeeded by Pirelli. Ferrari finished third overall last season behind champions Red Bull and McLaren.
