Oct 14, 2011, 3:23 GMT
Yeongam, South Korea - Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher drove the fastest round Friday in the rain-soaked first practice ahead of the Korean Grand Prix.
The Mercedes driver needed two minutes, 2.784 seconds to complete the 5.62-kilometre track in Yeongam, 400 kilometres south of Seoul.
Fellow German Sebastian Vettel came in second, five days after sealing his second world championship in a row with a third-place finish at the Japan Grand Prix. The Red Bull pilot finished 0.056 seconds behind Schumacher at Yeongam.
Briton Paul di Resta with Force India was third at 0.128 seconds behind the leader ahead of Sunday's Grand Prix.
Di Resta's teammate Adrian Sutil was fourth, followed by Toro Rosso's Sebastien Buemi.
No driver was able to complete the full practice programme because of the rain, and drivers such as Jenson Button, who is second in this season's rankings, along with Ferrari drivers Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa did not complete a timed lap.
