Schumacher says "totally OK" after Singapore crash into wall
Sep 25, 2011, 17:29 GMT
Singapore - Seven-times world champion Michael Schumacher said he felt 'totally OK' after a heavy crash on lap 30 in Sunday's Singapore Formula One race landed him into a safety wall.
While his German compratiot Sebastian Vettel of Red Bull clinched an impressive victory on the bumpy Marina Bay Street Circuit, the 42-year-old Mercedes driver made headlines for all the wrong reasons.
Trying to close in, Schumacher's car crashed into the back of Mexican Sergio Perez' Sauber, flipped up at the front and slammed into the safety barriers.
'He was about to go inside and lifted, and I was not expecting him to do that so early, and therefore hit him,' said Schumacher and called the incident 'a misunderstanding.'
'It's probably one of those race incidents which look more impressive from outside than from inside, as I am totally ok and my impact in the end was not too heavy,' he said.
The crash earned the German a warning from race stewards.
