Monza, Italy - McLaren's Lewis Hamilton led the way Friday in the first practice session for Sunday's Formula One Italian Grand Prix.

World champion and championship leader Sebastian Vettel was more than 1.3 seconds slower than Hamilton in third place, followed by Red Bull team-mate Mark Webber.
Adrian Sutil in a Force India, Vitaly Petrov in a Renault, Ferrari's Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, Sauber's Sergio Perez and Jaime Alguersuari in a Toro Rosso made up the remaining places in the leading 10.
Vettel is hoping to move closer at the high-speed Monza circuit this weekend to his second successive world title.
With seven races remaining of the F1 season, the 24-year-old German is on 259 points, holding a 92-point lead in the standings over Webber, with Alonso 10 points further back.
