Aug 27, 2011, 11:18 GMT
Spa-Francorchamps, Belgium - Australian Mark Webber celebrated his 35th birthday on Saturday with the announcement that he had signed a contract extension with Red Bull and then followed that up with the fastest time in the final free practise session.
Webber, who will stay with Red Bull at least until the end of the 2012 season, posted a time of two minutes 8.988 seconds in the final free practise ahead of Sunday's Belgian Grand Prix.
Former world champion Lewis Hamilton in a McLaren had the second-fastest time, just 0.58 seconds behind the Australian.
Webber and Hamilton were much faster than the rest of the pack, with Spanish Toro Rosso driver Jaime Alguersuari clocking 2:09.931 - nearly nine tenth of a second slower.
Championship leader Sebastian Vettel, who leads his Red Bull team-mate by 88 points, had the fifth-fastest time, while Michael Schumacher, who on Thursday celebrated the 20th anniversary of his first Grand Prix, had the 10th-fastest time.
Qualifying for Sunday's Grand Prix is later Saturday.
