Ferrari changes technical team after poor F1 start
May 24, 2011, 14:21 GMT
Maranello, Italy - Ferrari has changed its technical team in the wake of a poor start into the Formula One season, the Italian team said on Tuesday.
Ferrari said that 'as from today, Aldo Costa relinquishes his current position as technical director to take on new responsibilities within the company.'
The team said that its technical area has been restructured in three areas, with Pat Fry director for the chassis, Corrado Lanzone in charge of production and Luca Marmorini continuing on engine and electronics.
'All three report directly to the team principal, Stefano Domenicali,' Ferrari said.
Ferrari had aimed to fight for the world title in the 2011 but are yet to win in five season races. Their only podium finish is from Fernando Alonso in third place at the Turkish Grand Prix. Alonso trails season leader Sebastian Vettel by 67 points in fifth place.
The announcement came two days after Alonso came fifth in his native Spain and five days ahead of the next race in Monaco.
