Feb 3, 2010, 13:50 GMT
Valencia, Spain - Fernando Alonso in a Ferrari recorded the fastest time in the morning session of pre-season testing at Valencia Wednesday as the Italian marque continued to impress in the build-up to the 2010 Formula One season.
After team-mate Felipe Massa recorded the fastest lap times on Monday and Tuesday in his F10, it was Alonso's turn to delight his 30,000 home fans by setting the standard with a time of 1 minute 11.599 seconds for the four-kilometre long circuit.
Massa had previously managed a time of 1:11.722 while Michael Schumacher of Mercedes GP completed 30 laps in his session, registering a fastest time of 1:12.438, third-fastest on the day and quicker than the 1:12.899 set by team-mate Nico Rosberg on Tuesday.
Pedro de la Rosa of Sauber was second-quickest while world champion Jenson Button of McLaren-Mercedes had to be satisfied with fifth. Nico Huelkenberg managed sixth-fastest in his debut drive for Williams.
