London - Max Mosley is looking to see former Ferrari team principal Jean Todt replace him as president of motorsport's ruling body, the FIA, according to reports in Britain's Sunday Times newspaper.
On Wednesday, at a meeting of the FIA World Motor Sport Council, a group of eight rebel teams led by Ferrari ended a breakaway threat and agreed to cut costs. In return, the FIA withdrew a budget cap plan and Mosley said he would not seek another term as FIA boss in October.
However, Mosley subsequently stated that he was considering his options' and intimating he might, after all, stand for re-election in October.
This now appears to have meant instead that Mosley is looking to name his own successor, and the Briton appears to favour the choice of Frenchman Todt, who left Ferrari last March after spending 16 years with the Italian marque.
The Sunday Times quoted one team insider who said: Mosley wants someone to continue his work. Someone that can be manipulated by him and we all know who that is.'
