Hamilton fastest in first free practice session for German GP

Hockenheim, Germany - Lewis Hamilton in a McLaren-Mercedes was quickest in the first free practice session Friday at Hockenheim ahead of this weekend's German Grand Prix.
The Briton clocked a time of 1 minute 15.537 seconds for the 4.574-kilometre circuit with teammate Heikki Kovalainen second quickest in 1:15.666 minutes.
Felipe Massa of Ferrari was third fastest followed by Renault's Fernando Alonso and defending world champion Kimi Raikkonen in the second Ferrari.
Nico Rosberg of Williams edged out the BMW Saubers of Sebastian Vettel and Nick Heidfeld to finish sixth quickest with Rosberg's teammate Kazuki Nakajima and Renault's Nelson Piquet Jr completing the top 10.
