Hamilton fastest in first practice for British GP

Silverstone, Britain - Championship leader Lewis Hamilton in a McLaren-Mercedes registered the quickest time in the opening free practice session Friday ahead of Sunday's British Formula One Grand Prix.
The 22-year-old Briton clocked a time of one minute 21.100 seconds for the 5.141-kilometre circuit at Silverstone, beating Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen by 0.111 seconds.
Felipe Massa in the second Ferrari was third quickest in 1:21.285, followed by defending world champion Fernando Alonso in the second McLaren in 1:21.675 minutes.
The German Williams driver Nico Rosberg was fifth in the session, with Poland's Robert Kubica in a BMW-Sauber sixth, ahead of team-mate Nick Heidfeld.
Alexander Wurz of Austria in a Williams, Toyota's Ralf Schumacher and Rubens Barrichello in a Honda completed the top 10.
In the drivers' championship, Hamilton leads with 64 points, 14 clear of Alonso, with Massa on 47 and Raikkonen on 42.
Sunday's Grand Prix is the ninth of 17 races in the championship.
