May 28, 2007, 12:57 GMT
Monte Carlo - Motor racing's ruling body FIA confirmed Monday that is to investigate McLaren-Mercedes following the team's victory in Sunday's Monaco Grand Prix where Fernando Alonso took the chequered flag and was followed home by team-mate Lewis Hamilton.
'The FIA has launched an investigation into incidents involving the McLaren Mercedes team at the 2007 Monaco Grand Prix in light of a possible breach of the International Sporting Code,' said FIA in a statement on its website.
'The relevant evidence is under review and a further announcement will be made in due course.'
Alonso's win in Monte Carlo means the two-time world champion is level at the top of the drivers' standings with Hamilton on 38 points after five of 17 Formula One races. Ferrari's Felipe Massa lies third on 33 points.
