New Delhi, Nov 29 (IANS) The national cricket selectors will meet here instead of Mumbai Thursday to pick the Test squad for the three-match series in South Africa next month.
The venue was changed after Sharad Pawar, president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), summoned the selectors to Delhi as he is attending the Parliament session.
While it is not known what Pawar, also minister of agriculture, would discuss with the selectors, it is expected that the Indian team's poor performance in the ongoing one-day international series in South Africa will dominate the meeting.
A cricinfo.com report, quoting BCCI chief administrative officer Ratnakar Shetty, only said the venue of the meeting has been changed.
'The meeting will be held at 11.30 a.m. at the offices of the Delhi and District Cricket Association,' Shetty said.
A BCCI president is not part of the selection committee, nor can he instruct the selectors about the composition of the team.
But speculation is rife that former India skipper Sourav Ganguly could be recalled for the Test series beginning Dec 15 in Johannesburg.
Ganguly, who played his last Test in January-February against Pakistan in Karachi, was dropped after that tour of Pakistan.
His poor form in domestic tournaments - barring a century in Duleep Trophy - has not helped his cause.
