Allmendinger leaves Champ Cars for Nextel Cup

Philadelphia, PA - On Tuesday, Team Red Bull announced that they had filled the seat of the No.84 Red Bull Nextel Cup Toyota with Champ Car Series star A.J. Allmendinger.
Allmendinger (25) will join Hendrick Motorsports driver Brian Vickers to form a solid driver lineup in the team's first season.
Allmendinger is a former Toyota Atlantic champion and Champ Car rookie of the year. He is currently second in the championship behind Sebastien Bourdais and has five wins this season, all with Forsythe Championship Racing.
'I'm really excited about this next challenge in my racing career,' Allmendinger said. 'To race against some of the best drivers in the world in front of fans that are as enthusiastic about racing as I am is going to be a pretty big thrill.'
