Winnipeg, MB - Charles Roberts rushed for 98 yards and three touchdowns to lead the Winnipeg Blue Bombers past the Saskatchewan Roughriders, 34-15.
Kevin Glenn completed 24-of-31 passes for 279 yards with a touchdown and interception for the Blue Bombers (6-3-1), who have three wins in their last four games. Terrence Edwards hauled in seven passes for 52 yards in the victory.
Marcus Crandell threw for 146 yards and a touchdown on 9-of-15 passing for the Roughriders (7-3), who had a five-game win streak snapped. Matt Dominguez ended with six catches for 118 yards.
The Blue Bombers came out of the gate and scored 10 points in the opening quarter to take control.
Troy Westwood started things with a 12-yard field goal for the game's first points while a one-yard touchdown run by Roberts gave Winnipeg a 10-0 lead late in the first quarter.
Saskatchewan responded early in the second quarter and got on the board after Wes Cates scored from three yards out just eight seconds into the stanza.
The Blue Bombers answered after the Roughriders touchdown to make it 17-7 as Roberts plunged into the end zone from a yard out for his second score of the contest.
A single by Saskatchewan made it a nine-point contest, but just before halftime, Glenn completed an eight-yard touchdown pass to Milt Stegall to make it 24-8.
Early in the third quarter, Roberts continued his stellar performance, finding the end zone for the third time to make it 31-8.
A 12-yard field goal by Westwood extended Winnipeg's lead to 34-8 early in the final quarter.
Late in the fourth, Crandell connected with D.J. Flick for an 11-yard touchdown pass to account for the final margin.
Game Notes
Stegall finished with four catches for 74 yards...Winnipeg had 440 total yards of net offense while limiting Saskatchewan to 273 yards...The Roughriders allowed three sacks and ended with two turnovers.
