Toronto, ON - Michael Bishop threw for 281 yards and two touchdowns as the Toronto Argonauts defeated the Hamilton Tiger-Cats, 35-22.
Khalil Carter returned an interception 79 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter, while Patrick Johnson caught three passes for 70 yards and a score for the Argonauts (4-6), who have won nine straight against Hamilton.
Hamilton quarterback Timmy Chang had a dreadful outing, completing just 8- of-19 passes for 69 yards with three interceptions. The Ticats (1-9) have lost four in a row since their lone win of the season.
Hamilton got on the board as Toronto conceded a safety, but Bishop then hooked up with Jamall Broussard for an 18-yard touchdown to give Toronto the lead.
A single made it 8-2 before Bishop connected with Johnson on a seven-yard TD in the second quarter. Nick Setta's 36-yard field goal brought Hamilton within 15-5 before Noel Prefontaine's 13-yarder made it 18-5 Toronto heading into the locker room.
Robert Edwards scored on a short touchdown run to start the second half before Carter's touchdown made it 32-5 Toronto. Setta kicked a 24-yarder later in the third and Richie Williams, in relief of Chang, hit Jason French for an 18-yard score in the fourth to bring the Ticats within 32-15.
Prefontaine kicked a 23-yard field goal for Toronto before Williams found French again for a short TD. Hamilton, however, was unable to get closer.
Game Notes
Edwards finished with just 29 yards on 12 carries for Toronto...The Argonauts will travel to British Columbia next week, while Hamilton will play host to Winnipeg.
