Alouettes trade for Hamilton QB Maas

Montreal, QC - The Montreal Alouettes acquired veteran quarterback Jason Maas from Hamilton on Friday in exchange for fullback Jeff Piercy.Maas, 31, was made expendable in Hamilton when the Tiger-Cats inked free-agent quarterback Casey Printers to a three-year contract on Thursday. On the season, the eight-year vet has completed 137-of-231 passes for 1,749 yards, seven touchdowns and six interceptions.The Alouettes hope that Maas will help fill in for Anthony Calvillo, who could miss as many as three to four weeks with apparent damage to the rotator cuff in his right shoulder.© 2007 The Sports Network
