Toronto, ON - Montreal running back Jarret Payton took home Offensive Player of the Week honors Wednesday for his performance in the Alouettes' 30-18 victory over the Calgary Stampeders in Week 7.
Payton rushed for 160 yards and one touchdown on 20 carries in just his third career game in the CFL. In the victory, Payton ripped off a 35-yard run in the second quarter and then scored from eight yards out on the next play.
Payton was joined in the weekly honors by linebacker Reggie Hunt of the Saskatchewan Roughriders, who had 10 tackles in a victory over the Toronto Argonauts to win Defensive Player of the Week. Meanwhile, Ian Smart, who returned six kickoffs for 138 yards and six punt returns for 46 yards was named Special Teams Player of the Week.
Montreal's Ben Cahoon had nine catches for 140 yards and two touchdowns to earn Canadian Player of the Week.
