Montreal, QB - Kevin Glenn threw for 258 yards and a touchdown, and Winnipeg came up with a pair of key defensive stops in the fourth quarter to preserve a 20-18 win over the Montreal Alouettes.
Glenn completed 21-of-24 passes, and Charles Roberts rushed for 85 yards and a score, and caught six passes for 66 yards for the Blue Bombers (2-1-1).
For the third straight week, Winnipeg's Milt Stegall was unable to haul in a TD pass, thus remaining at 137 career touchdowns, tied with Mike Pringle and George Reed for the all-time record. Stegall had two receptions for 45 yards.
Anthony Calvillo completed 33-of-38 passes for 354 yards with a score for the Alouettes, but he was sacked by Tom Canada trying to lead his team to the tying two-point conversion inside two minutes remaining.
Calvillo has 50,597 career passing yards, passing Ron Lancaster (50,535) into third place on the CFL's all-time passing list.
Ben Cahoon had 12 receptions for 103 yards for the Alouettes (1-3), who were coming off a win at Hamilton.
Glenn connected with Terrence Edwards with a 41-yard touchdown pass in the opening minute of the fourth quarter to boost the Blue Bombers into the lead at 13-12.
Kelly Malveaux came up to stop Montreal's Robert Edwards just shy of the goal line, giving Winnipeg the ball back with under 10 minutes left.
Roberts, who departed the field gingerly after seemingly hurting his left leg in the second quarter, then boosted the Bombers to a 20-12 cushion by bouncing off a tackler to score on a 16-yard run with less than six minutes to play.
Montreal's bid to tie the game came up short. Calvillo connected with Ashlan Davis over the middle on a 30-yard touchdown play with 1:46 left. However, on the two-point conversion attempt, Calvillo rolled to the right side of the field before being taken down by Canada.
The Alouettes ran out the remaining time, converting a third down with a Glenn sneak.
Damon Duval kicked field goals of 47 and 32 yards in the first quarter. He added a 40-yarder in the final minute of the second, while Winnipeg's scoring came from Troy Westwood and Rob Pikula. Westwood booted a 42-yard field goal and Pikula had a pair of singles, as the score stood at 9-5 at halftime.
Duval connected from 14 yards away in the third quarter and another Pikula single moved the margin to 12-6 going into the fourth.
