Regina, SK - The British Columbia ground game produced three touchdowns, and the Lions took advantage of seven Saskatchewan turnovers for a 42-12 win over the Roughriders in a matchup of two undefeated teams.
Joe Smith rushed 13 times for 52 yards and a score, and added a touchdown reception for the Lions (3-0). Buck Pierce and Jarious Jackson had a rushing touchdown each for British Columbia. Jason Clermont had seven catches for 68 yards for the Lions. Pierce completed 6-of-11 passes for 80 yards.
Marcus Crandell completed 22-of-36 passes for 267 yards, with one touchdown, but three interceptions. Matt Dominguez had seven catches for 96 yards and a score for the Roughriders (2-1)
Paul McCallum's 57-yard single with 8:48 left in the first gave B.C. the early lead.
Smith's three-yard TD reception gave the Lions an 8-0 lead at 14:31 of the second, and McCallum's 46-yard field goal with 6:08 left made it an 11-0 game. McCallum tacked on a 23-yarder with 3:25 left, and Pierce broke through for a nine-yard touchdown run with 29 seconds left in the first half, giving B.C. a 21-0 lead at the break.
Smith's two-yard TD run extended the B.C. lead to 28-0 with 12:58 left in the third.
Luca Congi finally got the Roughriders on the board with a 14-yard field goal with 6:42 left in the third quarter, and Dominguez' 10-yard TD catch with 34 seconds left in the quarter made it a 28-10 game.
A Saskatchewan safety made it a 28-12 game with 2:40 left, but the game was all but over at that point, and B.C. sealed the rout with a one-yard scoring plunge by Jackson with 53 seconds left, and Javier Glatt's 56-yard interception return with 31 ticks left.
