Toronto, ON - Edmonton Eskimos quarterback Ricky Ray and B.C. Lions defensive end Cameron Wake headlined the Canadian Football League's Players of the Week for the first week of the season. They were joined by Toronto Argonauts kick returner Bashir Levingston and Calgary Stampeders fullback Rob Cote.
Ray, the Offensive Player of the Week, completed 33 of 42 passes for 394 yards, with five touchdowns and one interception as Edmonton finished in a 39-39 tie with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
Wake had three sacks and seven tackles in the Lions' 24-22 win over Toronto to take Defensive Player of the Week honors. Toronto's Levingston, Special Teams Player of the Week, set a new modern-day CFL record by returning a missed field goal 129 yards for a touchdown in the same game.
Cote had three receptions for 20 yards in a touchdown in Calgary's 37-9 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats to take Canadian Player of the Week honors.
