Eskimos' WR Hervey retires
Mar 21, 2007, 1:10 GMT
Edmonton, AB - Edmonton Eskimos veteran wide receiver Ed Hervey announced his retirement Tuesday after eight seasons in the CFL.
Hervey also accepted a position as the Eskimo West Coast (U.S.) Scout and Community Relations Assistant.
Hervey played with the Eskimos from 1999-2006 and was part of a pair of Grey Cup victories. A two-time All-Star, Hervey finished his career with 476 catches for 6,715 yards and 43 touchdowns.
The retirement comes a bit of a shock because in 2006 Hervey played in 17 games and finished second on the team in pass reception yards with 898 yards on 76 catches and three touchdowns.
The Eskimos also announced the death of former offensive lineman Bill Stevenson, who passed away late Monday. Stevenson, who played 14 seasons (1975-88) for the Eskimos, was 56.
